Creating Expected Values

Learn how to set up Expected Values to track key numeric or text-based data from Evidence Requests for analysis and validation.

Expected Values are extracted from Evidence Requests and allow you to summarize important information. They are a critical part of setting up your documents: model fields reference Expected Values directly, so models cannot run calculations without them. They can be pulled directly from validated templates or entered manually, making audits and reporting more efficient.

Note:

  • For batch documents, expected values are collected per batch.

  • For one-time or repeating documents, expected values are collected per data collection point of evidence collected.

How To

  1. From the three-dot menu on the right side of the Document, select Edit Expected Fields.

    1. 💡 Read the Document instructions carefully — some documents specify which expected values should be created.

  2. Add your expected values, which can include:

    • Manual numeric or text inputs

    • Text inputs

    • Sum of a numeric column from a validated template

    • Average of a numeric column from a validated template

    • Boolean (e.g. a checkbox)

    • Date value

  3. Save your expected values.

Tips and Best Practices

  • Use Expected Values for recurring numeric data to ensure consistency.

  • Keep naming consistent and descriptive for easy reference across documents and monitoring periods.

  • Leverage validated templates to reduce manual input errors.
